A Couple of Wine Lovers To Celebrate Their Union in Burgundy

By RACHEL KAPLAN

SAVIGNY-LES-BEAUNE–This magical little hamlet outside of Beaune, wine capital of Burgundy and home to Les Hospices de Beaune, also boasts an enchanting rustic Cistercian property, lovingly restored by a local wine-maker, and known as the Hameau de Barbaron.

Next summer we are hosting a wonderful wedding there that brings together family and friends from Los Angeles, Atlanta and New York, as well as many places outside the United States. We are honored that our bride is one of this century’s great documentary film makers and that her films stand in a league of their own, exposing criminally violent behavior against men and women, and inspiring another way to listen, respect and govern people different from ourselves.

Our bridal couple loves the wines of Burgundy and has tasted them in the Côte d’Or, and has made good friends in this unique region of France. We are looking forward to arranging a wild boar roast for the rehearsal dinner, a game of pétanque with the locals fuelled by local wines and cheese, and a fabulous wedding ceremony in the midst of the Burgundian countryside, followed by a banquet, fireworks, and disco dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

What’s so much fun at Ooh la la! France Wedding Planner is that we get to discover these wonderful places and pull together a terrific weekend celebration that will be remembered for years to come. If you wish to know more, write to [email protected].
