Paris–Once upon a time, in 2012, a beautiful young woman and a handsome young man, spent their summer vacation at the Trianon Palace in Versailles. On a Saturday night they took in the magnificent fireworks and musical light show in the gardens of the Château of Versailles, and promised each other that someday they would return for a big event that they would celebrate together…
Flash forward a year later. A very excited mother from Saddle River, NJ dials my number and asks if I can organize a wedding in Versailles for her daughter. Is she engaged? Not yet, but I know she will be, she tells me without a shade of doubt in her voice.–Call me, when this happens, I advise.
About four months later, the same mother sends me an email: “She’s ENGAGED!!!”
As it turns out, I was the only fairy godmother in France who wanted to make this dream wedding a reality. Last month, with an expanded guest list of 52, the same beautiful couple, tied the knot at Versailles, beneath a splendid chupah made of tulle and draped with white and cream roses, on the terrace of the Trianon Palace. The rabbi who married them had known the bride since she was a little girl–and it goes without saying–the wedding ceremony was extra special because of that relationship.
The quartet of musicians was exquisite–no wonder they were asked to play at the rehearsal dinner for Kanye West and Kim Kardashian…
The wedding luncheon turned out to be delicious and flawlessly executed–and as to the wedding cake, several guests asked for seconds.
After a tour of the gardens of Versailles, and a special photo op on the grounds of the Grand Trianon, the wedding party danced in the Gordon Ramsey restaurant and celebrated with more champagne. The mother of the bride was hoisted up in a Louis XVIth chair during the hora–a first for her, as well as for the Trianon Palace.
But fairytale weddings like this one–which lasted over four days–don’t come true without help from a stellar team–and I was lucky to have one–whether it was the photographer, the hotel staff, and above all my collaborators, Kawtar Rajaa and Caroline Bossé. Without them, the Ooh la la! France Wedding Planner dream wedding would never have come off.
